With 1.1, which most devices were at the time that I was looking(< 2 years), you're looking at a max of 4 channels, 2 in, 2 out, or just 4 in at 44.1kHz and 16 bit. It just doesn't use 95% of the available bandwidth. So any 1.1 device is by default a 2.0 device. The difference between USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 is the bus speed. The Emu using nice AKM converters, even the Creative (020) using Ciirrus Logic! Yeah i've heard alot about the usb interfaces you speak of, they sound pretty good. I emailed them as such and no return yet. (Omega) I read about many bad solder points, bad solder period, lo grade parts.oversheating(cured by opening box). LE4, dBx silver preamps, Pantheon reverb plug and other stuff."hardware issues of dropouts and latency " And like I said I think the new Lexion I-ONIX usb 2 interfaces look sweet and I bet they sound good they have Cubase USB 2.0 is technically faster than Firewire 400 so it would be much better to use something that is for sure USB 2.0. The speed of USB 1.1 vs USB 2.0 is so significant. And since it's only over usb 1.1 it doesn't sample as high of bit rate or do more than 2 tracks simultaneously despite claiming to do up to 4, technically it can but the dropouts are rediculous at that point. And the people I've read reviews on the unit from and people I've known that have used them don't complain about the sound of the plugin or the unit it's mainly just the hardware issues of dropouts and latency and such. Yeah I was thought it was weird that Lexicon specs it as that on their site and in the downloadable manual.

I double checked this some time ago.it's funny we both came to different conclusions!! Ha hayeah I was thought it was weird that Lexicon specs it as that on their site and in the downloadable manual. Preference of sound of one interface to another (even within same brand). It's not just "function" to me but sound. I double checked this some time ago.it's funny we both came to different conclusions!! Ha ha So that means a consumer sound card has better converters UGGH scary.Hi keith. Which would mean even a consumer audio card running USB 2.0 like a sound blaster audigy can run 24/96. Every USB 2.0 interface I've seen or used supports 24/96 or 24/192. The original MBOX was USB 1.1 and it only supported 24 bit/ 44.8 k audio as well.Īnd I know for a fact it can't be USB 2.0 because it doesn't support above 24 bit / 44.8k audio.

Only the I-ONIX units from Lexicon were USB 2.0 and I think one of those would be much nicer than an Omega and you get the newer LE software and the Pantheon plugin. I was going to get one to tie me over till I found a firewire card that worked on my laptop. Weird because a few months ago the lexicon site said it didn't support usb 2.0. So that means a consumer sound card has better converters UGGH scary. If midi was 1.1 I don't think it would matter.weird because a few months ago the lexicon site said it didn't support usb 2.0. I've got a Lambda to play around with and it gets down to 10 ms no prob.
